Hands on Learning: Legoland and Early Simple Machines (BRS)
Kindergarten students use Lego kits to build and explore simple machines.  Lessons are coordinated by the extending learning specialist for all sections.

Students read short, high-interest articles called “One-Minute Readers” in order to increase reading fluency.  Parents are partners in the program, practicing with children at home and sending in evaluation sheets.

Use digital video recorders to enhance cross-curricular cooperating and English Language Arts.  Learning will be interesting and fun since the children are using familiar technology.

Purchase a used grand piano to enhance the choral program at PHS.  *Note: $6,000 of the $12,000 was granted in 2010 cycle.  The grant has been put in escrow and the PHS Music Department will secure the additional $6,000 through fundraising, or by applying for a second grant in 2011.
